Coenie de Villiers

“Musical, warm and competent - a rare instrumental talent - out of the heart of the Karoo.”

Jaco Kriek is developing a reputation as an artful and passionate musician.

 

He has performed at KKNK during different productions:

  • “Mis die ou oom” – a tribute to Jans Rautenbach (Founder member of KKNK)

  • “Karoolinge gehekel in woord en klank” –   A  Book Reading by Tania Smit

  • “RSG Stage”

 

Jaco has also performed on stages like the Bush Lapa in George during a pre-show for Chris Chameleon (South African musician/Composer).

 

He often plays at restaurants, wine farms and special occasions like birthdays and weddings.

 

Jaco’s saxophone has been heard at venues like: 

 

  • Grand Provence Wine Estate and

  • Café Roca, Franschoek,

  • Delaire Graff Estate, Stellenbosch

  • Surval Olive Estate, Oudtshoorn,

  • 101 Mead Street Restaurant, George,

  • Augusta Grill, George

  • Ilali Restaurant, Wilderness,

  • Nostalgie Restaurant, Oudtshoorn,

  • Sirocco Restaurant, Knysna

  • Bistro Celeiro, Hoekwil,  

  • Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, Cape Town,

  • Durbanville Hills Winery

  • Lanzerac Wine Estate, etc.

He grew up in George, Western Cape, and then joined the South African Air Force Choir and Concert Group.
He has been practicing Optometry in Oudtshoorn for the past 25 years.

His passion for music drove him to take up the Saxophone in his early 40's and is apparent when listening to him doing what he loves...
